Furniture Layout
What do you do in your room? I mean besides sleep, you probably do homework, create works of art, read, listen to music, and chat with your friends, right? Let's arrange your room so it works for you.
Steps to layout your furniture:
- Measure the length and width of all of your furniture.
- In ¼ inch scale (1/4” = 1 foot), draw templates of the
furniture, label them, and cut them out. Add color and patterns!
- Move the pieces around the scaled drawing of your room to
see which arrangement you like the best. To help your room feel balanced, place your
bed in a position that makes it the focal point of the room. Put it in a
spot furthest from the door where you have a clear view of the
entrance.
-
Once you have the floor plan that you like best, glue-stick
the paper templates down on the floor plan.
- Ask mom or dad for help in moving your actual furniture into
position.

Room for One
If you're lucky enough to have your own room, this is one way you could arrange it.
Corner Layout for Two
If you share a room, this arrangement gives you more floor space. You can chat, but you won't have to look at your sister while you fall asleep.
Side by Side Layout for Two
Another way to layout a room with two beds is to put them next to each other. You can giggle all night when your best friend sleeps over.
